OUR COMMITMENTS
1_1_75d7d68f6da8e1f93cb3a6b2c0ec3b4f

At Vanessa Bruno, we value local expertise and the quality of French manufacturing. Since its creation in 1998, the iconic Cabas toile has been entirely designed and manufactured in France. We are proud to say that we collaborate closely with each participant in its production to guarantee high ethical standards and traceability.

The Cabas is designed by our studio in the heart of Paris and manufactured nearby, in a family workshop in the Paris region. Located in Pantin, it is made up of around fifteen experienced artisans, some of whom have been working on the Cabas since its inception. Its human scale and proximity allow our teams to maintain the privileged relationships essential to ensuring the quality of our pieces.

Our Cabas are not only assembled in France: each of the elements that constitute it is also sourced locally. Its waterproof cotton canvas is produced by a manufacturer located in Houplines, in the Nord department. Developed and patented by this family business almost a century old, it is made entirely of natural cotton fibers.

We rely on a small factory near Lyon to weave the sequins to create the bands that adorn our signature Cabas bags. They are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, an international label that guarantees the absence of potential sources of toxic substances.

Because we are committed to continuing this commitment, the Vanessa Bruno teams are hard at work producing new Cabas variations in France each season. This is already the case for our Linen Cabas, our Multipocket Cabas and Camera Bag, as well as all of our canvas and linen pencil cases and pouches, which are made near Paris by our long-time partner. We have also relocated the production of several faux fur and velvet Cabas models, the latest in a long list to come.

Linen, a Virtuous Fiber | Vanessa Bruno

Linen, a Virtuous Fiber

Linen is inseparable from the Vanessa Bruno look. Authentic and elegant, this natural fiber reflects our desire to offer you a high-quality, easy-to-use, and sustainable wardrobe. Profoundly virtuous, used by men since time immemorial, it is a plant whose cultivation requires little water, and no pesticides or GMOs. Eco-responsible by nature, linen has been at the heart of our ready-to-wear collections since our beginnings. Its extraordinary thermal regulating properties make it an ally in your everyday wardrobe, winter and summer. And because it is both supple and resistant, light and robust, we have also chosen to make linen one of the preferred materials for our signature accessories.

The linen featured in our Cabas and Moon bags is extraordinary. Our pieces are certified Masters of Linen by the European Linen and Hemp Confederation (CELC), which means they are 100% traceable. Made in France, our tote bags are made from Belgian linen grown from Northern France to the Netherlands, a region renowned worldwide for its excellent linen. Our supplier is one of six weavers with the Belgian Linen™ label, a certification issued by the independent organization The Belgian Linen Association, which guarantees the European origin of its fibers and their weaving on Belgian soil. Since 2014, the linen weavings of this committed family business have also been carbon neutral. These qualities reflect our commitment to more environmentally friendly fashion.

YAK, EXCEPTIONAL WOOL

Because we are convinced of the quality and durability of natural fibers, at Vanessa Bruno, we make sure to use as many of them as possible each season. Our teams scrupulously select the best linens, cottons, cashmeres, and vegetable-tanned leathers to create a wardrobe as close as possible to nature.

Over the years, we have made one of these materials with exceptional properties the asset of our famous knits: yak wool.

Produced through non-industrial and nomadic agriculture, yak wool is an inherently sustainable fiber. For thousands of years, this species has been raised by the peoples of the Himalayan plains who traditionally use its winter wool to face the extreme conditions of their environment. In spring, during molting, the yak naturally loses its woolly coat, a soft and robust down called “khullu”. It is then harvested using combs and scissors, an ancestral process respecting animal welfare. Since yak doesn't produce grease, the fibers are then woven without undergoing any chemical cleaning treatment.

Particularly rare and virtuous, this extraordinary wool is notably used in the composition of our iconic Malo sweater. To increase its softness and natural comfort, we chose to combine it with merino, selected for its lightness. This insulating and thermoregulating blend is available in other sweater models like the Virgil or the Balade as well as winter accessories, scarves, and hats. So many exceptional timeless pieces.

When you place an order on our website, it arrives in one of our 100% recycled and recyclable boxes. We've chosen boxes made in France that meet strict ethical and ecological standards.

Our bags distributed in stores and Vanessa Bruno corners meet FSC standards: they're designed with materials from sustainably managed forests and made from 70% recycled materials. Made in France, the bags dedicated to the sales period are 100% recycled and recyclable.

When you're committed to more sustainable fashion, every detail counts. So, we chose 100% French-made tissue paper to wrap our items. Business cards, thank-you cards, gift cards... All our cards are also printed on recycled paper. We encourage you to continue this initiative by reusing and recycling Vanessa Bruno packaging.
